Bring Back the Blast

Good afternoon!  You have read about the "Financial Recovery Committee", and now we would like to introduce ourselves.  We are a group of dedicated BFA fans - parents, coaches, past players - who want to help ensure the Blast will be around for future generations.  The committee includes Amy Christiansen, Stacey DeFries, Erica Hake, Georgia Henderson and Megan Bernard.  We are unaffiliated with the BFA Board but are actively engaged with them.  We wanted to help by tackling immediate fundraising activities so the board could focus on the other important needs at hand.


Our first project was our Bring Back the Blast GoFundMe campaign - which, thanks to your sharing, has raised over $20,000 so far!  We still have a ways to go and just increased our goal amount to $30,000 so we can start to refund summer registrations.  Thank you to everyone who has helped this campaign reach so many caring people.


Our second project is the Blast Family Picnic.  We can't wait to get our players back together!  While COVID-19 is forcing us to manage this a little creatively, we are excited to invite you to join us.  The picnic will be Wednesday, July 8th at Dred Scott Fields 2/3/4 and the picnic shelter.  All BFA clinics will be cancelled that night to encourage all to join the party.  To keep attendees under the required 250 person maximum, we will have 3 separate time slots by age division AND require you to register pre-event.



  • 5:30 - 6:30: 8U, In-House
  • 6:30 - 7:30: 10U
  • 7:30 - 8:30 12U/14U 

Picnic basket meals will be available for sale as well as optional events in which all profit will be donated to BFA.



  • Picnic Meal Basket: $5 for a hot dog, chips, and root beer from LTD Brewing (or a bottle of water)
  • High school team scrimmage or practice: details still TBD but the younger girls will be able to watch the big girls play
  • Skills Competitions: $1 entry fee per event with a small prize for each winner per age division

    • Longest Throw
    • Fastest Run Around the Bases
  • T-Shirt Sale: $15 for a dri-fit, special purchase Blast shirt for the 2020 quarantined season.  Pictures to come soon!
  • Key Chain: $12 for a personalized key chain (images attached).  Orders will be taken at the picnic and delivered shortly after.
  • Raffle: 10 - 12 prizes will be raffled away.  $3 per ticket, $5 for 2, or $10 for 5.  Specific prizes to come soon!

We need several volunteers to help facilitate.  If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here.  


If you would like to attend, you will also need to sign up here.  Please be sure to register for each family member.   If you have children in multiple age groups and would like to attend for multiple time slots you are able to do so - just sign up in all slots you will be there for.  


COVID-19 Requirements

To ensure we are complying with current guidelines, the following rules will be enforced:

  • We cannot exceed 250 people at the event at once.  If you are not officially on the SignUp Genius list, you will be asked to leave.  So please just sign up.  :)
  • All must maintain 6 feet of social distancing, outside of family units.
  • Masks are encouraged but not required.  However, all volunteers handling food will be required to wear masks and gloves.
